First hand experience.
Compassionate counsel.
Our Special Needs & Education Law Philosophy Our work philosophy is a simple one: the student’s needs come first. We begin each potential case by providing a free, initial consultation. This consultation may be in-person or over the telephone, depending on your unique circumstances and the student’s or family’s needs. The primary goal during the initial session is to listen and learn - to understand your needs and discuss potential legal issues and options. Having gone through this process ourselves, we place the highest importance on understanding your needs and discussing expectations.
Working through special needs and education legal issues can be very stressful. Having been through this experience first hand, we understand how important it is to remove as much of your stress as possible. A big part of that stress comes from the uncertainty involved in any legal issue and not knowing what to expect about your interaction with an attorney.
What You can expect...
Here’s what you can expect with Lana L. Traynor, LLC on your side:
- An honest, straight-forward assessment and conversation with you about the potential legal issues and options that may apply.
- If we don’t know the answer to something, we’ll tell you that and work as hard as necessary to get the answer you need. This area of law is complex and student-specific so we may need to research an issue or process through a specific fact-pattern before we can comfortably recommend a certain course of action.
Special consideration for your unique needs:
- reduced stimuli (e.g., dimmed lights for those bothered by “bright lights” or quiet environment for those bothered by extraneous noises);
- comfortable, casual atmosphere with a variety of meeting locales (in your home or office, if necessary, or at our office);
- child-friendly;
- sensitive to privacy issues (we try not to schedule appointments back-to-back to avoid clients feeling “rushed” or uncomfortable);
- undivided attention during your consultations;
- non-judgmental (we all face issues that may be embarrassing or difficult to discuss, but we listen, don’t judge and look for solutions to each unique legal problem);
- open discussion about retainer, payment options (major credit cards accepted, too) and billing practices (e.g., we don’t charge you for leaving a voicemail or sending certain types of electronic communications);
- budget-conscious ways to minimize your legal fees – we offer you the opportunity to minimize legal fees by doing some preparatory work yourself, when appropriate.
